This polygon dataset is intended to provide mapping and visual representation of a subset of the Tier II catchments, each corresponding to a designated high quality Tier II waters. Designation is required to fulfill of the Code of Maryland Regulation 26.08.02.04-1. This dataset will assist State, Local, and Federal officials and stakeholders in the decision-making process. It also provides a simplified depiction of the total area of the State covered by Tier II catchments that can be used to generate maps, diagrams, and for analysis purposes. Finally, this dataset can be used as a reference during the permit review process, outreach activities, environmental screening, or other planning initiatives such as restoration and preservation activities.
The catchments within this dataset were delineated using 30 meter United States Geographic Survey (USGS) digital elevation models (DEM) and Tier II designated stream segments lines. |
