Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This GIS map service provides the locations of Non-Transient Non-Community (NTNC) drinking water systems across Maryland. The NTNCs are defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as drinking water systems that are not a community drinking water system across an area, but contained within the property where they are located, primarily for a specific building/facility. A NTNC regularly serves at least 25 of the same people over six months of a year. This type of system can be found at schools, daycare centers, manufacturers, hospitals or nursing homes, office buildings, and other facilities.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Note - The spatial locations of the NTNC water systems were derived from the street address for that site and do not represent the actual location of the water system's infrastructure. </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The data fields found within this GIS layer are as follows:</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Public Water system Identification (PWSID):</SPAN></P><P STYLE="text-indent:20;"><SPAN>The PWSID is a unique number used to identify water systems within a specific state.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>System Name:</SPAN></P><P STYLE="text-indent:20;"><SPAN>This is the name of the water system.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Water Source Description:</SPAN></P><P STYLE="text-indent:20;"><SPAN>This column identifies the primary source of the water used by the water system:</SPAN></P><UL><LI><P><SPAN>GW: Groundwater.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>GWP: Groundwater purchased.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>SW: Surface water.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>SWP: Surface water purchased.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>GU: Groundwater under influence of surface water.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>GUP: Purchased groundwater under influence of surface water source.</SPAN></P></LI></UL><P><SPAN>County:</SPAN></P><P STYLE="text-indent:20;"><SPAN>Name of the county in which the water system is located.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Data Source:</SPAN></P><P STYLE="text-indent:20;"><SPAN>This field lists the origin of the displayed water system locations and data:</SPAN></P><UL><LI><P><SPAN>MDE: Internal files.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>Water System: File provided by system.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>County GIS: County provided GIS layers.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>County W&amp;S: Water &amp; Sewer Plan Maps.</SPAN></P></LI><LI><P><SPAN>SDWIS: Information from State database.</SPAN></P></LI></UL></DIV></DIV></DIV>
